Obviously no one had yet invented the "6 word birdline" rule.
The men in Granite City were supposedly very popular and receiving proposals for some reason.
This one is kind of funny looking
At this point the bird artist (I strongly suspect it is SC Martin) is already starting to settle into making the Weatherbird simply stand there while saying something quippy. It moves away from the older style of the bird actually doing things. This 'bird in a suit just standing there' will become more common over the next couple of years and will become the normative style for decades.

Unusual lettering
Not the bird of the day but fun. Is there actually a Weatherbird anywhere?
More unusual lettering
